How do I get my father to be quiet around my sleeping baby?

My father currently lives with me and my husband and every time he enters the room, he is soo loud and always wakes up my sleeping baby. drives me nuts! I have told him before to keep it down but he says 'its a living room.' and then walks away.. how can i tell him to be quiet and have him take me seriously??
