Help getting free diabetic supplies?

im looking to help my fiance's dad get free diabetic supplies. his insurance won't cover a meter and all that because he takes pills and not insulin shots. i think that is messed up and i work in the medical field, unfortunately in the OB/GYN part. does ANYONE know how i can help him get some strips and a meter and anything else he may need. I don't know what insurance he has or which type of diabetes he has, but i can find out. so if ANYONE knows how to help PLEASE PLEASE help.. thank you*
